For the last 18 years I have worked in the field of post-compulsory education; formerly as a Lecturer in Sociology, followed by six years in Teacher Education. Concurrent with this, my own company, Agenda Training, functioned as a City & Guilds accredited vocational training and assessment centre. For the last five years, I have been employed as the Study Support Tutor in a UK university, working with students experiencing barriers to learning caused by weak study skills or those possessing learning disabilities. I also support international students requiring help with language skills in order to meet the demands of higher education. My written work has been published widely and latterly I have produced a diverse range of study resources in different formats. Currently I am working on a volume of reading and note-taking strategies which has been commissioned by an international educational publisher. My work in the study skills support arena was rewarded in 2006 with a Fellowship in Learning & Teaching
